When pink eye is viral or bacterial, there is a chance that it could spread to others. Typically, it is used by either the herpes simplex virus or the virus that causes chickenpox, varicella-zoster. In any case, when pink eye is contagious, it is extremely contagious. It’s important to avoid sharing pillowcases or sharing contact lenses.
What Are the Potential Complications of Pink Eye?
Pink eye can be a sign of a serious viral or bacterial infection. It can also be linked to a significant injury. The risks of going without diagnosis and treatment may include:

- Blurry vision
- Light sensitivity
